Match Highlights : Manchester United 2-0 Manchester City (Premier League)
Manchester United are 4 points closer to retain their Premier League crown after beating Manchester City 2-0 at Old Trafford. Goals Cristiano Ronaldo & Carlos Teves gave United the edge in this derby. With 3 matches to go, United go top of the Premier League and only need 4 more points to deny Liverpool any chance of winning their first ever Premier League trophy. Next match for United is away at Wigan this Wednesday. If United win that match, they will retain their crown next Saturday by avoiding defeat to Arsenal. No more bragging rights for the Kop then as United will match their 18 league titles. Glory Glory Man United !

Congratulations Sir Alex Ferguson !
Congratulations to Sir Alex Ferguson for being named Barclays Manager of the Month for April 2009.
March 2009 saw United lost back to back to Liverpool (1-4) and Fulham (0-2), but the boss steered the Reds to four straight victories in April 2009.
It started with the incredible scenes at Old Trafford against Aston Villa, with 17-year-old debutant Federico Macheda grabbing an astonishing injury-time clincher in a dramatic 3-2 win. The Italian was again got the winner away to Sunderland, joining Paul Scholes on the scoresheet in a 2-1 success at the Stadium of Light. Portsmouth were then dispatched 2-0 back in Manchester, although the winning margin could, and should, have been wider. Sir Alex had to show his tactical nous as the Reds went in 2-0 down at half-time against Tottenham Hotspur in the last outing in April; sending out fearsome foursome Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov to spearhead five second-half goals.Glory Glory Man United !
Twelve goals in four games has kept the Reds in a commanding position in the league, now requiring a maximum of seven points from four remaining games to win a third consecutive title - the 18th in total. (via manutd.com)

Match Highlights : Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United (UEFA Champions League)
Forza United ! Manchester United are heading to Rome on 27 May 2009 to defend their European crown after beating Arsenal comprehensively in the UEFA Champions League Semifinal 2nd Leg at Emirates. United won 3-1 on the night, courtesy of goals from Ji-Sung Park (8') and Cristiano Ronaldo (10' & 60') with Arsenal getting a consolation goal through a penalty converted by Robin van Persie at 75'.
Ji-Sung Park goal in 8' resulted from an unfortunate slip by Kieran Gibbs. Two minutes later, a superb Ronaldo bullet freekick from almost 40 yards beat Almunia at near post. That goal effectively ended any Arsenal hopes of reaching the final as Arsenal needed to score 4 goals. Arsenal desperation to push forward backfired as United scored a superb team goal on 60' through a quick counter attack involving Ji-Sung Park, Rooney & Ronaldo.
United was then reduced to 10 men in 74' after Darren Fletcher was shown a straight red card after he was judge by the referee to foul Fabregas in United box. Replay suggested otherwise as Fletcher managed to get the ball first. Robin van Persie scored the resulting penalty, however it was a little to late for the Gunners to do anything as they still needed 4 goals.
The game ended at 4-1 on aggregate, United progress to Rome in a mission to become the first ever team in the UEFA Champions League history to win back to back European title.

Match Highlights : Manchester United 1-0 Arsenal (Champions League)
United won 1-0 against Arsenal in the Champions League first leg semifinal at Old Trafford, courtesy of a rare goal from John O'Shea. This result gave United a slight advantage going into the second leg at Emirates in a week time knowing that if they score one goal, Arsenal will need to score 3 goals to win the tie. But honestly, I wish United had scored more goals. United dominated the game & the 1-0 scoreline didn't do justice to the performance shown by United players. I must congratulate Manuel Almunia though as he was the main reason Arsenal is still in this tie. He made several superb saves, especially the shot by Tevez & the headers by Ronaldo & Rooney. Anyway, the job is already half done. If United can repeat this first leg performance at Emirates, surely United will be heading to Rome !
Glory Glory Man United !
